Default V6 CDTi Oil Filter Housing problem

    HI Folks,

Was in the process of changing my oil on my 2004 V6 CDTi this weekend. Sump plug came undone no problem and the oil drained out nicely.

When I came to undo the Oil filter housing drain plug, it was INCREDIBLY tight, obviously the previous owner/garage has tightened it way above the torque that was specified.

To cut a long story short, I got the plug out, but 90% of the thread came with the plug! DOH!

My question is, can I get just the base 'cap' from vauxhall? or am i looking at a whole new housing?

You can buy just the bottom housing part no 97229224 . I think it may have to come from germany . you couldtry saab daeler or renault As they have the same engine fitted in their 3.0 DTI.

Or you could try local garage or engine place and get a helicoil thread insert placed in. Will prob cost about 20 quid for them to do it.

I did same thing with mine just haven't got around to Gettin insert yet

    Good point!

I'll check with my local stealership first to see if its not too unreasonable for a piece of housing.

Failing that... I'll get it re-tapped!
