Spanner Warning Light

i have a vectra c 1.9cdti sri 2007.
before starting the car, when the ignition is switched on does the warning spanner light normally come on and then go off when the car is started? Or is not not supposed to come on at all unless theres a fault?

and ive jus got my alternator changed if thats why??

its telling you that you have logged a fault but if its going off after youve started the engine the fault has been cleared

thanks...if i disconnect my battery for 30mins will the light stay out??

it might do fella but it should go off after a certain amount of starts of the engine
