Default intermittent check rear bulb warning

Getting an intermittent check rear brake light warning on the siggy - pressing pedal clears it. Have removed and refit bulb, is this most likely an iffy brake pedal switch/sensor?

Oh, and tiny hole in the rear glass lens (about 5mil across) - is this an MOT failure? Cheeky repair but if I fill with some coloured silicon (food colouring to same colour) would that pass? Concerned as Siggy rear light units seem to be hard to come by.

Edit, re above question, would these rear lights really be legal for MOT? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=180677157251

Try replace the bulb? I had this once and it was the filament on the bulb that was making and breaking. I replaced the bulb with new and never a problem since (3 years now).

Also try cleaning the contacts of the bulb and in the bulb holder.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Suggestions appreciated, new bulb this weekend.

Any suggestions on the small hole in the lens? Seeing this 'lens' repair tape that will get through MOT apparently as it prevents light shining through and thats enough. Still fancy sticking some coloured silicon sealant in there though to make it look a bit better but anything to put off getting a new light unit.
