    Sort of....

What i did was buy a 12v ciggy plug with a USB charger built into it. Snipped off the 12v ciggy end, and soldered it to the back of the 12v socket in the car. Ran the USB charger inside the center tunnel into the arm rest compartment, then the iPhone charger cable again through the tunnel and poked it up through a hole made in the center drinks holder.

A neat tidy installation, and with the drinks holder closed, you would never know it was there. HTH

I've plugged a usb into the cigarette lighter for charging, and when listening to music or podcasts stored on phone, I get an interference buzz and whistling through the stereo.

Would splicing a lead into the feed negate this?

Happens with phone and mp3 player through 3.5mm aux to stereo...

I want to put a USB port by my light switch (on the right of the dash) so that the iPhone lead can be tucked/hidden behind the dash and just have the charging end by my phone holder how would you get the voltage to drop from 12volts to the required 4.75 - 5.25 volts ? Any electrically gurus out there that can help?

Buy a ciggy lighter USB adapter, and attach some flying leads to the end that usually plugs into the ciggy socket and then attach the leads to a +ve and -ve connection in the car, making sure that you have a fuse in line to protect things.

I bought one of those belkin flush adapters. I had to modify it a little to fit flush (it's a touch too long) but once it's in and the spring loaded flap is in place, you wouldn't know it's there.
