    Default Parking sensors fitted

    Hi all,
bought myself a parking sensor kit from Steel Mate. Sprayed the sensors to match the car and fitted them today. I did not remove the bumper because I decided to mount the sensors in a different position from the factory one.
To power the sensors I spliced the supply to the reversing light from the wiring at the connector to the lighting module. This has not caused any problems with the lamp failure warning system. I mounted the display for the system above the rear view mirror running the cable around the rubber strip at the roof covering and down into the boot space. I had to remove the alarm sensor at the interior light to get the wiring for the display in place.
The system gives a voice warning telling the distance from the object, a bleep warning and a display of where the object is according to the sensors. Quite smart actually. Well impressed with it. I can well recommend the Steel Mate sensors. They might cost a little bit more than some sensors but the are good quality and also have a three year warranty. They also provide help over the phone. All in all a very good service.

Some piccies attached for you to have a look at.

    Ian

    Looks really good......

OK, stupid question time - how did you put the sensors on without removing the bumper? Drill through and feed the wires?

Thanks - look forward to your reply

Just drilled through and fed in the wires. Connected the cables to the sensors first to make it a bit easier. The only bit that requires real care is for the sensors above the number plate. They have to be drilled accurately to fit in between the bolts for mounting the bumper and the plate lights. Measure several times and drill.

Picture of the display working. I just taken it so its not very clear, a bit too dark for the camera but it should be enough to get the idea.

    The kit cost me £125.
