Parking pilot switch

just wounderd if any1 else could shed some light about moding a standard park assist switch so i can turn it on or off. as I've bought an after Market sensor kit of eBay. I've already put the switch in just to see what happens orange light doesn't come on when you press the switch. but illuminates when you put the lights on.

you need a latching type of relay and wire that in to switch the parking kit. the switch just sends a pulse and is not latching

Sorry to sound dopey but what's a latching relay? also where can I get one, is there a diagram to show how it's done thanks

There are 2 resistors inside the switch, 1 for the led and the other is connected to the switch contact, if you remove this resistor it turns it into a "normal" button, but you will need a latching relay board such as this so that when you push the button the circuit stays on and when you push it again it turns it off. You can then wire any accessory you want to it.
