Default What's involved with a full and basic service?

Going to do this myself, so apart from the oil and filter change what else is involved and at what intervals do the parts need replacing?
    Cheers

Mileage? 16v or VVT? Oil, oil filter, Air filter(supposed to be every 40K but change when its dirty or yearly imo), fuel filter is 40k too I think, Pollen filter(do this yearly regardless of mileage) Plugs, Timing belt is 60k or 6 yearly(not seen a reported break on either 16v or vvt on here before but that doesnt mean they cant break), brake fluid change every 3 years, Coolant has no official service change but as a rule of thumb the orange/red QAT stuff in the Vec has a 5 year minimum life span and the brakes will need looking at too. The slides need removing, cleaning and re greasing with copper grease, and the hand brake pivot point checked that its moving freely.

Plugs should be ok then. M8internet has corrected me on the fuel fiter change, which is under the drivers side rear passenger door clipped to the petrol tank btw. Can be a fiddly job as you get a small tool to undo the clips but can be done with a small screw driver.

Just remembered that i did the fuel filter back in September - the old one was leaking. I've only done about 4/5k miles since then. So that should be ok then? or is it worth doing yearly?

The fuel filter is actually 40K miles / second
However, we are having some debate over this as fuel continues to evolve, so er on the side of caution and replace at 20K miles / single

Also, it is quite vulnerable (in some of the petrol models) as it is not in the engine bay
I had one that was damaged on my Vectra B

I change oil and all filters every 10K at the most. For the price you can get the parts for, it seems silly to leave filters in there for 20K. Brake fluid is done whenever I upgrade the brakes (I've never kept a car long enough to need it more than once) and I'll get the garage to change the coolant when they do the water pump and cambelt...

Yea it will be ok, for all the cost yes its worth doing yearly. No ones going to complain doing things inside of VX service intervals, which tbh some are completely nuts. Air filters shouldn't have a service interval, they need replaced when they get dirty. Take the 2.2 spark plugs, they only need replaced at 80K or 8 years!!! Thats crazy IMO, by the time they pass 40K they will be well past their best and at £10 to change Id do it yearly.

    Exactly

To the OP You should think about becoming a full member, you get a trade club card which would save you around 25% or even more on parts, buying all the service items from VX will save you the cost of your membership first time around, and possibly cost you less than going to a motor factors. Example and genuine air filter at trade is about £7 which is about the same cost as buying a pattern part from ebay.
