    Default Diesel Catalytic Converter Question

I know it's been asked but where is the stance on the Decatting a diesel generally as far as the law allows? I was reading this:

    http://www.motester.co.uk/Home/MOTChecklist.aspx

And found under the Exhaust and Emissions part that if any par of the system is missing it is a fail?

I have a CDTI 150 and in terms of decatting would this be acceptable? I have read people saying it's perfectly fine as legally diesels don't require a Cat.

I know they're smoke tested but legally can the cat be removed?

    I hope I'm being paranoid.

I was speaking to the manager at the garage I use and I was saying to him about the new laws about diesels having to have CAT's (come 2012) or they will fail, to which he said, they would fail now without a CAT. He obviously hasn't noticed the non-cat lol

When they speak of incomplete systems they mean a whole back box missing and the pipe ending underneath the car etc.

Now stop fretting and just do it already
