    Default should I or should'nt I buy a 3.0 CDTi?

Thinking of buying one, 2006 facelift, not seen it yet or had a drive, what kind of stuff should i be looking for? stuff I've read makes it look like a solid motor with few known faults, or have I missed anything? other than service parts!!

It's an sri, and I've got a knackered pre-face lift elite sitting in the garden, so would swop over all the good bits, hopefully ending up with a nice motor.

    Any advice would be apperciated.

    Larann.

I'm really leaning towards it, so hopefully it won't be a lemon. The one I'm looking at is ex police, so hopefully been looked after, but may have been thrashed from time to time!!

    looked after and thrashed...
Sadly the majority are seen as work horses

Putting the electrics back to retail specification could be fun
The saving you will make will soon be consumed in a new radio CD player
Drivers seat will probably be well worn
Check the brake pedal plastic for wear (mine is on 126K miles and needs replacing now)

Vectra wise, the usual inspections for springs, shocks, and bushes (the Vectra C seems to eat them)
3.0 V6 CDTI, not much to report, but service history is essential

The only thing with ex police is all the holes on the dashboard. Other than that, if they ever had a problem with the car, it would have been a brand new part.

I'm hoping that any of the police 'modifications' can be address with the vectra parts I'll have on my old elite, so fingers crossed I can get the price down, and then not have to spend anything to fix the issues. My old vectra has a double din after marcket hed unit anyways, so I'll be swopping it over.
