Possible to upgrade CIM / Onboard computer

I've been trying to read through and see what I can find but nothing particularly clear, I have the very basic clock, temp and radio station 2 line display, with the 2 little buttons underneath it to change the time etc.

I would like to upgrade it though to a much better on board trip computer and all of that, Is it possible to do? If so is it easily done and what would I need to buy etc??? I guess it may well need a Tech2 session to turn stuff on etc but that's just guess work on my part really!?!

Yep, I have rocker buttons, it's a 56 plate 1.9 Cdti life! So what would be involved then!?!

Please people, someone must know?? I seen a 2.2 DTi breaking, Would the computer from that work with mine with a bit of Tech2 etc???

Or do I need a specific computer etc or what???

search for some tid to gid threads, plenty of info on them mate.

Yeah i've tried searching but it keeps telling me that the words tid and gid are too short or too common so haven't been included in the search!!! So I just get loads of random threads back!

I don't know enough of the terminology to narrow the search down etc!

I think you need a GID but will need a bigger type of plug on the back of it and will need to rewire your existing plug to suit the newer one
