v/c cdti 120 knockin sound

got the vectra cdti 120 on an 07 plate,wen its warm there is a knocking/metal noise comin from the cam side,i put a drop of oil in an its gone for now,any idea wat the hell it could be,just done cambelt but not w/pump...

Put oil in the engine or around the knocking noise?

How much do i put in from empty,its the 1.9 120bhp cdti,cheers for the help.

4.3 litres when you change the oil and filter.

thanks 4 your help bud....do i need to replace the oil ring on filter change..an wats the pros to remove it???

Use a six sided 13 mm socket to remove the sump plug as anything else will round off the corners of the hex, they seem to be very soft. You should get a new rubber seal with the new filter and you will need a 32mm or one and a quarter inch AF socket to remove the top of the filter housing.

cheers for the info,it is done,also there is wyning sound now coming from the engine pulley,but which one is it?there are a few of them on the fleet,an mine has just started to do it?only wen i'm slowing down in gear,it sounds like a dynamo,an i've just put a brand new alternator on,could it be the automatic pretentioner on the aux belt???????
