Default Something odd with my brakes...

    Hi guys,

Keep getting an odd vibration in my brake pedal, but only after I've held it down slightly for a while (like braking gently when coming off a motorway) then letting go and reapplying.

Keep finding the pedal going hard too. Oddly, if I let the vibration thing happen, it softens up again.

Anyone got any ideas? Vacuum problem?

Fluid has been replaced recently and fully bled. Discs are pretty new and I recently stripped and overhauled the front calipers (following MOT advisory about a brake imbalance).

I had a sensor that had moved slightly years ago on a Rover. In this instance, the ABS would kick in when the car was just about at a dead stop. The symptoms were you felt the brake pedel pulse very fast and the ABS light on the dash would illuminate briefly. If it were the ABS on your car, I would have expected the warning light to illuminate when the fault was being exhibited. Maybe I am wrong though.

I don't remember the light ever coming on when the ABS was activated. Is it supposed to?

I initially thought of ABS when the pedal was vibrating, but it only ever happened after a few seconds of gentle braking. Normally it's absolutely fine...

No, the light shows up on engine startup, then switches off
The light indicates an error / fault

I suggest you have all four brakes full inspected to determine where the issue is

I'm thinking of removing the ABS fuse to see if the problem occurs with the ABS disabled...

    What does everyone think?

Oh, and does anyone know which fuse it is?!

By the way, does anyone know if Tech2/OpCom etc will tell me if and when the ABS pump is activating?

When you start the car the ABS is checked if ok the light goes out when you start, so the pump is working.

Yeah, but I need to know if the pump kicking in is the cause of my vibration problem...
