Default Poor pictures but it's in...

Apologies for the pictures... it was only really after I'd finished the wiring that I thought I should take some pics and post them up here...

So... I decided to try one of those FM transmitter things and the sound quality is pretty good, especially if the transmitter is located near the car aerial. This made me want to do just that; mount the transmitter as closely but as discreetly to the car aerial as possible whilst housing the ipod/mp3 player up front somewhere convenient.

So it's a really simple install but I think pretty effective. I've got to do some final adjustments to it but am pretty happy with the initial outcome.

So I just ran a 12v extension socket off the rear lighter socket...

...the cable runs under the passenger seat to the passenger side of the car, then under the trim all the way down in to the boot space and in to the slight overhang in the left hand side of the boot space... Not sure how else to describe it... I took some pics...

In the above pic it's in the top left of the boot space...

In the below pic you can see the position from underneath...

From the FM transmitter I've run a 3.5mm extension back in to the car following the same route and in to the lower arm rest compartment...

You could wire up the transmitter to one of the live circuits in the fuse box on the left side of the boot. You have a choice of "always live" and "live with ignition".

I want to hide the cable coming down from the extension out of the rear lighter socket and I want to bring the 3.5mm cable in from the underside of the console (at the moment it's just running up between the seat and the arm rest). But... pretty happy so far...
