    Default My new Photographic Toy!

Not really car related but my Macro Lens for my Olympus E-500 SLR arrived today that I ordered back in March. It's a Sigma 105mm (actually 210mm as it's a Four Thirds Mount) F2.8 and it's fantastic! Been taking close ups of everything this evening ... will have to have a go with my car at the weekend (will have to give it a damned good clean though as all the muck will show up in super detail ) ... hope it doesn't rain too much!

Ooooh that started a while ago and the wallet has taken quite a beating! I started off with the E-500, two lenses, one 1Gb compact flash card and a small over the shoulder Lowepro bag. I now have:
    E-500
    17.5-45mm Lens (35mm equiv = 35-90)
    40-150mm Lens (35mm equiv = 80-300)
    18-180mm Lens (35mm equiv = 36-360)
    105mm Macro Lens (35mm equiv = 210)
    5 Li-Ion batteries
    Li-Ion battery charger
    FL-50 Flash Unit
    Manfrotto Monopod
    Manfrotto 055-ProB Tripod
    Manfrotto 488RC4 Midi Ball Head
    Sto-Fen Omni Bounce
    Sto-Fen Orange Omni Bounce
1 x 4Gb Sandisk Extreme III Compact Flash Card
1 x 2Gb Sandisk Extreme III Compact Flash Card
    1 x 1Gb PNYCompact Flash Card
Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack Camera bag
Plus various filters, cleaning kit and recharable AA batteries for the flash

Flippin 'eck looks scary when I list it all out like that!

So as you can see I've already slipped wayyyyyyyy down that slope!

indeed I believe it was the fastest before the recently released Extreme IV, it does make a difference!

We went a track day the weekend before last - was one we bought my Sister and Brother-in-law for Christmas to play with their Supra and ended up coming away with just under 800 shots ... deleted quite heavily and got it down to less than half that! but that really is the beauty of digital ... it costs nothing and results are fab!

I looked at the D50 (and the Canon 350D) when I bought the E-500 but went for the E-500 in the end becuase it was lighter but the pics I have seen from the Nikon are very good!

Ooh - look at you!! Nice little list there! Those omni-bounces are great - especially the orange ones in tungsten lighting!

Oh for sure ... the problem is time ... especially with how addictive this place is ... I have loads of photography books too which I haven't got around to reading yet! I could do with a year off work to catch up with everything
