confused 2.0dti Diesel pump advice urgently needed

My 2005 2.0dti, 60,000 miles, is in having a new turbo fitted and the dealer has come back and said oil was found in my diesel pump which was only replaced 6 months ago, they also said there was a knocking coming from the pump when it was cold. It has been sent away to get tested and apparently no fault was found.
It can't be flushed out either.

    1. Where could the oil be coming from? (When the pump was changed the dealer said it's not uncommon for oil to get 'dumped' into the fuel - is this correct?)

    2. If there is engine oil in the pump what damage could it do?

    3. Surely this oil would just mix with the diesel and burn away?

Your advice / suggestions / answers are all greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Oil would get into the fuel through leaking injector seals I'd say.

The dealer did say they were going to replace the seals as a precaution. I'm just worried about any damage this may have done to the pump as the engine oil was due to be changed as it's about 12 months old.

I don't think engine oil would damage the pump to such extent that it would die. In any case though, oil in diesel certainly isn't good. Being a DTi the injector seals would've been bad soon so might as well replace those as advised by your dealer.
