I was with them for my first 2 years (only been driving for 4) no complaints at all, then Hastings was cheaper for me. Good effort on the missus being 20 years your junior tho......

Never had any complaints with DL the 8 years I was with them (any claims settled promptly, etc), Ended up leaving them because they hiked my premium up and found that going with Tesco (same underwriters as DL at the time - RBS) reduced my yearly premium by over £100.

    Default Direct Line OK

I have recently moved to Direct Line, from Churchill.

Moved to Churchill 2 years ago. Then their premiums rocketed.

Been with Direct Line in the past.

It is a fact of life now you have to keep jumping companies or you end up paying over the odds.

Figure you have been quoted looks competitive.

DL & Churchill are both underwritten by RBS.

By changing companies, you often benefit from the 10% (or is it 20%) online joining discounts they offer. Something you don't get if you renew with the same company.

Tesco are no longer underwritten by RBS though. Changed approx Oct last year. Anyone with a current policy taken out before Oct 2010 will still be underwritten by RBS (until renewal), just like DL & Churchill. After Oct 2010 Tesco are now underwritten by a number of different insurers. See http://www.tescobank.com/personal/fi...-policies.html for more info.

I've just renewed my Tesco policy, and it's now underwritten by Tesco Bank.
