Is it the downpipe that's stopping you from getting it out past the oil pick up pipe?

No the exhaust downpipe is off the car and ive now released the sub frame and the drivers side engine mount.. Ive tried lifting the engine to get clearance but it clears on the oil pickup side but then wont clear on the other side.. Thing is , i dropped the sub frame hoping it would allow me to lever it down so i can slide it out but the engine is attached to the sub frame so it moves with it when i lift it..
Tbh, ive given up right now cos i cant see a way to get this off.
Might have to call someone out me thinks cos im stumped!!

right hand drive shaft needs to come out, and the intermediate so that you can remove the bearing housing, after that it's all the other bits and pieces tying things together.

Right! This is whats needed to do the job! You first need to remove the exhaust downpipe also the bearing housing bolts ( these can be removed from the sump without removing the drivshaft ( COOL access to the 3 bolts holding it to the sump can be gained from the rear . Once they are removed it simply pulls free ) Then remove all the sump bolts including several hiden ones that go into the gearbox housing ect! Theres an exhaust clamp that need removing also then a breather pipe from the rear of the sump along with a sensor/ Once all this has been done , you then need to remove then 18mm rear sub frame bolts along with the brackets at the rear of the sub frame on each side.. Then the two large sub frame bolts on each side at the front which will loosen the whole sub frame.
Lastly and the one that got me at took hours to solve
Remove the large engine mount bolt from the front of the engine ( near the rad) This is the key as it seperates the sub frame from the engine and allows you to pull it down and get access enough to get the sump clear of all the stuff in the way ( need an extra set of hands to pull down whilst you fit up the sump!!!

What a mare of a job guys to do on your drive but a good learning experience and i saved a small fortune ( vaux called it a 4 spanner job and said i would of looked at paying around £400+ 5 hours roughly

Nice to see you got there in the end bud. Did the sump on the wifes Punto last year, 18 10mm bolts, break the seal, remove sump, replace, job done. No need to remove front pipe etc... 1 hour start to finish.
