    Default Failed M.O.T

The vec went in for its first mot today since ive bought her and yep she failed.

i was expecting some advisories but not a fail, well it is an 8 year old car i dont really know what i was expecting but heres what she failed on.

All brake pipes excessivly corroded and the o/s rear tyre had a nail through the inside side wall (must of happened while pulling up at the garage today).

He wanted £320 for the brake pipes and £80 for the tyre and £39.50 grand total of £439.50. luckly i managed to haggle with him and got all the work done including mot and labour for £300 cash bonus.

Mine is creaping up on me, only a few weeks away. But checked everything over with my brother and all looks fine. Fingers crossed as enough money has been spend on new tyres/brakes etc over the last few months...
But Glad you got it sorted and have another year of happy motoring in the veccy..

When you say the lot does this mean from the master cylinder or down below? as you can join them on most cars and the master pipes get left on.

£80.00 seems very cheap for the lot are you sure they did them all?

thankyou UncleMelon, yorkshireborn yea your right £320 for all the pipes is alot but i phoned the stealers and they wanted £419 plus vat. another independant garage wanted £345 this is excluding the tyre i needed replacing. fair play he is replacing all the pipes from brake servo right down to all the calipers and replacing a tyre with the same brand and mot for £300 so its not so bad
