Default First Time Claying A Car....

After eyeing up claying kits for ages, I finally took the plunge the other day. Bought a Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay Kit, which came with the clay, quick detailer spray/lubricant, polish, and a decent sized microfiber cloth.

Have to say that I am not one to enthuse about things (just ask my wife! ) but I am AMAZED at how good this stuff actually works. It's absolutely effortless in comparison to trying to work your way round a car with something like T-Cut, and the end result I think is outstanding. Couldn't believe just how smooth the clayed panels felt in comparison to the ones I hadn't touched, and it brings out the shine beautifully.

Shame the ruddy rain came on just after I had finished, Or I might even have managed a photo!

Once clayed you need to use a sealer or polish as the clay takes all the old stuff off.

The kit did come with a polish, which I have been over the car with. Might still give it another coat of something else if the rain ever stops.....

Kilmarnock mate, home of "The Scheme"!

Thankfully I'm not at that end of the town though.

It's only an old 2002 LS, it's nothing to look at compared to some of the other guys motors on here......

If I get a dry day sometime soon and get it looking good again, I'll maybe stick a couple of pics on. Should really have taken a couple of "before" pics.

Just waiting on some smoke tipped rear lights coming this week to get rid of the current orange nastiness. Changed the side repeaters last week and put chromed bulbs in the front lights, time to give the rear end a going over now.

Okay, okay, I get the message!

Still raining this morning, but here's a couple of pics to let you see the general idea. Will put better ones on if it ever dries up........
