Default EGR clean = sick consumption

    Hi guys..
Just cleaned my EGR, my boost sensor, my airflow sensor and manifold.
The I installed the Fiat Gasket.
It all works perfekt. The car runs so smooth!!
BUT my consumption-reader has gone ballistic. When I idle it shows 1,5 l/100 km.. And on the highway it shows up til 8 l/100 kms..
    Anybody know why this is???

By airflow sensor I assume MAF, these are very fragile indeed - you sure this is still ok..?

    8 l - 100 kilometers = 1.75 Gallons to 61.2 Miles

    61.2 / 1.75 = 34 miles to a gallon.

I was stupid enough to "gently" spray it with brake cleaner ;o) It actually seems quite allright now. But the read says 1,2l/100km at idle.. Seems wrong to me...

Think I might have sussed this one out..............

At idle, I guess you mean the car's stationary and just ticking over?

If it is, at idle the BC instantaneous consumption reads either gallons per hour or litres per hour, NOT lt per 100km. It's only when the car's moving does the readout change to gallons per mile (mpg) or, in your case, lt per 100 km?

At least this is how it is on my 2004 V6 CDTi and was the same on my 2002 GSi. At the moment, my V6 at idle with the air con on is reading 0.3 gallons per hour which would be 1.36 lt per hour, so yours would seem OK.
