broken egr pipe and blanking it off

the egr pipe on my car has snapped in half and i have read about blanking it off

now im not great with cars so here goes

the car is a cdti 150 so when im looking down into the engine and see the egr pipe is the end what is in view that has a rippled part,the part where the egr is and is that where i place the blanking plate

also with the pipe snapped can i just remove the part i can get to that has 2 allen bolts ?? also will i need the plate with the 9mm hole in it ??

cheers and if that lot makes no sense i will get a pic when the rain stops

If the exhaust feed pipe is broken before the EGR, then you will need to sort this out ontop of blanking the EGR.

As for blanking, one of those gaskets is enough, you slip it in between the bottom of the EGR (150) and the exhaust feed pipe (undo the two 13mm bolts, slip it in, refit bolts) - that's it.

see the end where it tapers on the right its the part that clamps onto that and then allen bolts onto the manifold thats snapped where it clamps on

Wherever it has snapped, you'll have to replace it or you'll be leaking exhaust gasses into your engine bay. Most people blank the EGR either between EGR valve and inlet manifold, or between EGR valve and cooler pipe.

yep trying to get hold of a used part before i have to pull out the £100
