Angry National Tyres 0w30 Castrol Edge

Well after posting here last week about an oil and filter change for £39 with Castrol Edge 0w 30 fully synthetic. I went in this morning and they went round the back of the garage and came through will an oil filler jug full of oil. I asked if it was Castrol edge and the boss man say oh yes, 0W 30 it is. I asked the guy who was doing the job and he said, all the oils th same, semi-synthetic. I said, it fully synthetic I ordered. He said, yes thats whats in here.
So I had no way of knowing. The receipt says castrol edge 0 30 but who knows. Not going back there anyway. At least when I went to kwik-fit, I saw them crack open the genuine Mobil 1 cartons. I may or may not have crap oil in the car now. Oh well, I will not be running 2 years on this oil, next year refill for me.

    Its not a difficult job.

Got to agree with Graham there, Till last weekend oil changes were something I paid other people for although I will happily do exhausts / suspention etc and after doing my first change I will not be paying anyone again Id rather pay extra if needed and know im getting what I want in the car.

The more I experiance the "Motor trade" the less I trust most of it.

All oil comes in a branded tin, you should of asked to have a look at where he got it from. Its probable got "tesco value" written on it!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Retail oil comes in branded tins (typically 1, 4, and 5 litres)
However trade oil comes in barrels
National Tyres tend to fill a central container and then use a jug, some outlets have a drop feed system
However, they should still be able to show you this barrel

If you are not satisfied that the oil provided, such that there is some doubt, then report the matter to Trading Standards
The usual issue at National Tyres is the lack of knowledge of the products they sell, quite often synthetic and semi-synthetic oil are thought to be the same thing

If you really want to test them, ask if they have any G* tyres that fit a Vectra
    The answer should be no...
