Default car rattling, cannot find source

have changed 1 busted front coil spring and 1 busted rear trailing arm bush, and the car rattle really badly

its like a metalic chatter rattly type of noise, like a loose heat shield or an exhaust clamp thats loose, something metalic

i don't know what else it could be, its driving me mad

however if i use the handbrake up a few clicks it goes away if i drive it, or if i tap the brakes there and i move it forwards over bumps or small dents in the road the rattle stops

ive tried with a screwdriver to try and play the pads up n down but there is no movement, so i don't know what the heck is going on?

also it feels like sometimes the sound is coming from the centre of the car going backwords, its hard to tell

Rear pads rattling in the caliper/s. Quite often happens when replacing with after market pads. I had to make small shims(out of copper) to cure the rattle, did the job for me.

I've had exactly the same noises for ages, just as you describe. I've always assumed it's something loose in the exhaust system. Let me know if you find out what it is because I can't!

well i will find out in a few days when i take everything off and have a good inspection,
do me a favor, can you open the rear passenger door whichever the side the noise comes from, and really violently bounce the car up and down to see if you hear any sort of metalic squeeks or something rubbing of something, also try pushing it sideways from the body and forwards and back from the inner door edges,
    as thats what i get,

I'm guessing mine could be a different issue. I hear the rattle when the car is idling and even louder when I put it in drive. It's not worse over bumps, but it always sounds as if something is about to fall off but so far hasn't. I would say though that the noise seems to come from the area from the centre to the rear passenger side.

Have you guys checked that the heat shield above the exhaust and around the spare wheel well is all secure. They have a habit of corroding and causing rattling.

I had a sound like that right after they resurfaced our road, I kept getting under the car to look, but couldn't see anything. A very large bit of gravel had got caught up in the osf pad and disc. Kind boys at ATS removed it for me.
