    Default Corsa B help

My wife has an x-reg Corsa B 1.7DTi. When she turns the steeringwheel to the right and the car is in motion there's a sort of grinding/vibration noise which to me appears to come from the passenger side wheel arch. When the steering wheel is turned to the left, there is no noise.

Any ideas what might be causing it?

Would the drive shaft be coming loose?

I've had a drive shaft go bang on a roundabout in Dundee few years back in the wifes old corsa. Got underneath to have alook pulled the loose gaitor away and piles of ball bearings fell on the deck!

I would have thought if it was the driveshaft it would have made a noise in a straight line too? Perhaps the bearing then?

think you need to get it up in the air with the wheel off and look for any wear marks if none keep on axle stand and get some one to start car and engage gear and slowly release the clutch and listen and turn wheel till it makes the noise

but be careful with loose clothing and hands

Had the same thing on my wifes Corsa C. (opposite side and direction of steering to yours)

Once the wheel was off the clues were there. Grease all round the outer CV joint/rear of the hub. Once re-greased, the noise went away.

That would be my first check

We have a winner! ^ See pic below.

Does anyone have experience of the "univeral stretchy CV boots"? Am I better going for the real deal instead? If so, how easy is it to remove CV joint from a driveshaft?

Stick with the real deal, the universal ones don't last anywhere near as long, so would be false economy.
