There's an oxymoron in there...
cheap car but more expensive in NI

As above, don't bother remapping / modifying the engine
It will then turn into a money pit

Main issue has been blocked SCVs
If it has the upgraded ones then you shouldn't have any issues
If the car has full maintenance history then check
However if the original SCVs are still fitted then this may be why it is for sale (as some smaller garages struggle to diagnose this correctly)
The parts come in a kit costing about £120, but the issue is the labour costs at near on ten hours

The car should also be on ECO Flex servicing, so check the service interval to the next service and compare to the service book (ignition key out and press odometer reset)
The display should then show an oil can with spanner with a number underneath and this is the miles TO the next service
Service intervals are 30K miles / 2 years but this requires GM-LL oil
As the car is out of warranty you can reduce this to 10K miles / 1 year using 10W40 synthetic oil

The guy I bought it off changed the oil evey 5000 miles....

always wanted to see if the extra 27bhp made much of a difference...

Not really from a standing start, try a 30mph roll on in 4th.

So apart from fuel pump is there any reason why you wouldnt remap it?

I ran a box on mine and it was fine, I could see an RX8 off fairly easily. Thats the only thing that would stop me, but not so much on the y30dt, just the z30dt.

Is there no preemptive measure you can take with the pump to prevent it going kaboom? Reason im asking is the v6 is the next car i want. Insurance wont let me within a 100miles of a 2.0T or obviously the gsi so ill hav to content my self with the diesel v6 for a few years.
