Default CDTI 150 Remap + DPF Removal

    Hi,

Little advice please if at all possible.

I contacted a company called Turbo Pacs in durham regarding the DPF removal and a remap on my vec.

They got back to me telling me that i would gain an extra 45hp and 68lb. With the DPF removed it mite push 200bhp.

Now, here is the interesting part.

They quoted me £299 and the car for a day to remove the DPF and £599 for a remap.

To me this seems expensive for a remap? £599? -I dont know how much it should cost for the DPF removal?

Another thing, would you recommend getting the DPF removed? this company seem to think its a MUST HAVE because of all the problems that they cause.

What are your thoughts on this please? - If it is too expensive, can anyone recommend a comapny in the North East who can do this work? are good and are reasonable.

    Many thanks

    Adam

That remap is very expensive, as is the DPF removal.

Two options with the DPF, strip the insides and refit, or physically remove and replace with a bypass - either way would cost far less than £300.

Mas Performance (as an example) do remaps for £200 with EGR/DPF removal.

My mate sent his V6CDti For Dpf to be removed . they did nothing exept for running a wire and remapping ecu. That currupted the ecu. The invoice said they cut the filter out of the DFP buy had not and charged £600 . If you rev car over 3000 a lot leave it alone and just get a remap. A garage here is Bristol doed a remap for £250 .

I asked the question as to why they where so expensive ....i this this as a reply

    Hi Adam

    Thanks for your reply,

We are very experienced in this process and this is far from a easy job to do, we do ask that question all the time how can people be charging 400 pounds to do a job when the software alone is far from a cheap process,
bain in mind its takes just under a full day to do the job of removing the dpf from the vehicle and then refitting it , for the last 18 months we do at least 2 DPF filters a week on customers car, car travel from all over the country to us to get this done so we must be doing some think rite.

The benefits of a remap from us is that our maps are at the minute one of the highest power gain figures on the market as well as seeing the benefit of better mpg.

We charge a fair price for a job that gets done properly, that is the question that you got to ask as we have already seen other company's making a quick buck for doing half the process.

If this is the case were you looking for cheap then this is not us sorry, but there is benefits for us all round, if company's are doing this process for as little as 300 quid the not making any money or there is some think not quite rite there

    Regards

    Anthony Mcginty

Run the other way- there are so many places that offer remaps (not 100% sure about dpf removal) but do yourself a favour and dont get involved with anyone that you have a suspicion about. I went, in my ignorance, to two separate companies, one was black code who were "supposed" to be reputable and offered a decent price. I got screwed over with the remap, lied to, and in they end they managed to wangle half the money i paid back once i had demanded a refund even tho they offer a 7day money back garauntee.

My advice- post up your location and someone on here will be able to tell you the safest/most reliable place to go and itll be a heck of a lot cheaper.

    Just my opinion of course
