    Default PIAA Plasma Spark bulbs

I intend on fitting an HID kit over the next month or so, but in the meantime, I managed to blag a pair of H7 PIAA Plasma Spark bulbs on eBay.

They were in the sellers car for about a month and then he sold it, removing the bulbs first. He paid @£60 for them!!!.

Managed to get them for £20 off him.

Fitted them today and I'm pretty impressed with them.

After driving around in my previous car for about 2 years, that I had fitted an HID kit to, I've been kinda spoiled as far as night time driving/light performance goes.

The PIAA's are pretty good, they are the closest I've seen a simple bulb replacement come to the "look" of HID's. Much better than any other so called "HID look" Xenon bulbs.

Performance is very good. Drove back from the in-laws house in Edinburgh tonight in the dark and they light the road up very well indeed, although as I said, I'm used to genuine HID's so its still below that level of performance.

All in all, pretty happy with the results. I dont think they are worth £60 new price, as you can blag a complete HID kit for say another £50-60, but for £20 I got a bit of a bargain there!!!.

Will take some pics, probably tomorrow and stick 'em up here.

Nah, they are standard wattage although PIAA claim results of 100W performance from them. I wouldn't go as far as to say that though, but they are very good and as I said I think its the closest "plug and play" bulb straight out the packet that I have seen to the effect of true HID's. Not too blue in a boy racer way, but still look good.

Shame about the yellow sidelight bulbs though!!. Tried white sidelight LED's that look great but the resistance on LED bulbs is too low so it causes the bulb monitor to have a fit and tell you yer bulbs are out.

Details of the Plasma Spark PIAA's can be found HERE

I can whole heartedly recommend the Philips BlueVision side light bulb - a noticeably different crisp clean white light. Not the best picture in the world but might give you an idea (Before is standard Osram sidelight bulb, afterwards is Philips BlueVision sidelight bulb):

Edit: You can probably see the sidelight better on this pic:

Just looked at your link for the bulbs and noticed this:
    Not Compliant with European requlations,
Is that a typo and if not does that mean they are technically illegal (£60 and 3 points jobbie)?

Probably not a typo, but it would take a very, very nasty copper to do you for them. The only way he would be able to tell is if he removed the bulbs and looked at the things themselves.

*EDIT* Thanks for the pics by the way, looks good.
