If it aint broke don't fix it.
Always makes me laugh this, it is broke, it is making sure your inlet manifold is getting full of crud and will fail eventually (unless you do 90%+ motorway driving), I did many 000's miles in my old Vec with EGR blanked, and have done over 50K miles is various cars (VX, Ford, BMW) with EGR blanked/bypassed with no issues at all.
Yes, blanking/mapping out the EGR operation does raise combustion temps, but not to a level where damage will occur, they are only lowered for emissions purposes, not for engine safety/reliability.
There are very few engines where the EGR operation is built into the engine design to a degree where removing it will cause issues, Renault is one. Even BMW's used to have them vacuum operated with no ECU interference at all.
At the end of the day its completely up-to the individual as to what they do to the car, but based on my experiences with this engine, blanking/mapping out the EGR has caused no negative issues - I can find no issues caused as a direct result of removing the EGR from a GM CDTi 150 engine.
agree unless its needing replaced leave it
I blanked mine but it was giving hassle, as said if it's fine, leave it.
Does it have any negative effect?
