    Default Blanking egr

    Hi all do you think it's worth blanking off my egr? Will it effect performance? I'm getting my timing belt done next week so I might get them to do that aswell what do you guys think?

    I blanked mine but it was giving hassle, as said if it's fine, leave it.

    It raises combustion temperatures, hence exhaust gas temperatures at part throttle. Issues which which can arise are turbocharger failure.

    from what i have tried with my own motor (which has not been blanked off yet), i have unplugged & gone for a very spirited drive... the low down pull is improved.

    now i have also heard that blanking out can cause excessive boost heat which can cause the intercooler to swell & then fail... it will be interesting to hear from folk with mapped out egr's to see what sort of mileage the have done & do they have boost heat problems

    I've done 0ver 20000 miles with my EGR blanked off and it's the best mod I've ever done and this car is remapped, de-catted, stainless exhaust etc and gets good long distance thrashings (100 km inside Polish border to Dunkirque in 6.5 hrs ).

    so you have just simply blanked & not mapped out... do you get the emissions light
