    Default vectra c 2004 1.8ls CLUTCH GONE / DMF?

    Hi,

Yesterday the clutch went on my car. It is currently in with halfords autocentre (they were the only local place I could find that fixes clutches?!).

When I went down yesterday, I was told that when the clutch goes it is usually down to the DMF and if that is the case that will need changing at the same time.

The clutch alone is costing £480 fitted and the guy said it would be about the same again for the DMF, if it is faulty. They warned me that 9 times out of 10, it is the DMF and it will need to be changed. Not very happy at all!

Now, looking on this site I am getting conflicting information. Is there a DMF in 2004 1.8ls petrol? This post says they don't http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/archiv...p/t-56750.html

Please could somebody with a bit of knowledge help me out? Thanks!

Just looking on this site it seems the facelift models do have DMF or bigger engines, but it really doesn't look like the 1.8 petrol 2004 has one.

After further investigation on the part sites you can only buy a complete clutch kit for my car and it says it has a solid flywheel.

I'll see what they say when they ring to tell me it needs changing!

Is there any chance that a solid flywheel could need changing when changing a clutch on my car? It seems very unlikely to me.

I have seen that the DMF seems to be a common fault and it could have been an easy mistake for the guy at the garage to make thinking my car had one, but realistically could there be a problem with the solid flywheel?

I am having a hard time stomaching the nearly £500 to get the clutch sorted, so for a garage to try add anything else on is a bit too much!

Especially as the car has been fine lately, one day everything was working fine, the next the clutch went, no warning, no sounds, nothing.

Who is cg? I need to find a decent garage to use.

I did ring round a few places, but they were all the same price or didn't fit clutches.
