I've been weed free for :

Two months, one week, two days, 11 hours, 55 minutes and 52 seconds.
1429 cigarettes not smoked, saving £371.78.
Life saved: 4 days, 23 hours, 5 minutes.

    According to my silkquit meter.

You need to face some facts. It's ****** hard, end of. I did it using Zyban and a nicorette inhaler.

Go see the docs, dont gear up for it, just do it, seriously I failed twice cause I wound myself up about day I was gonna quit, making sure I had enough fags the night before etc...

This is the second time i've quit, last time it lasted a month then I got divorced and started again. This time was different. I didnt want to quit TBH, I enjoyed smoking, but my non-smoker fiancee and her 10yr old son hated it. So I made a promise. I wouldnt smoke when we got married, and I kept it.

It stinks, it's disgusting and it's un-sociable, and tbh it'll be even harder for smokers come next summer, so quit now.

Good luck VV, i'm 26 days into giving up. Even with the current problems and stress i've had to go through i've found it suprisingly easy.

Been smoking around 20-30 a day for the last few years, had previously given up for 2 1/2 years with the help of Zyban (didn't sleep for the 3 months I was on them).

Since then i've tried Zyban again, patches and just about everything you could imagine except the gum. This time i've given it a go and it's been soooo easy you wouldn't believe it.

Now i'm not sure if it's because i'm so utterly determined to give it up this time around or whether it's because the chewing gum method just works right for me, perhaps it's a combination of both.
With the patches or tablets, if you get a craving there's little else you can do but have a smoke. With the gum, when the the craving hits you have a piece of gum, you get the nicotine to control the craving and I think more importantly for me, I feel like i'm actally doing something about it, if that makes sense??

At the end of the day though, it's not about the tools you use it's how you use them and apply them, ultimately it's down to you and your determination and the support from your family and friends that will see you packing it up.

Good luck mate, i'm with you all the way on this.

I smoked for about 12 years and stopped 2 years ago.

I used the nicotine gum. Then after a few months switched to Orbit sugar free. Then a fter a few months stopped that as well.

Bottom line is you have to WANT to stop. I did and stopped.

The strange thing is that other smokers see you as a deserter and keep pushing ciggies at you. 'One won't kill you' - no it won't but it will set you back a lot more than you think. Best thing to do if someone keeps pushing them at you is to take one, snap it in half, drop it on the floor and stand on it. They will be unlikely to offer you another.

    Good luck.
