    Default Part numbers...

Im well aware of the growing annoyance at members just requesting part numbers and not looking for themselves so if anybody could please point me in the direction of where/how i would go about finding a part number out for a part i do not have, for eg im looking the bumper grille for a pre-facelift sri id apprecite it.

    Thanks

I think it was one of jezzys top 10 hates or whatever his thread was when he posted it up a while ago. I can understand why it gets annoying if people just dont bother but if they dont have the part for instance then i dont see anything wrong with asking. Cheers for the info mate.

It was one of my "dislikes" (hate is such a strong word...lol) because many people don't seem to be aware that when you buy from a Vauxhall dealer you don't have to have the part number to hand before you go - the dealer will look it up for you. Fair enough you might be looking for the part on ebay or elsewhere on the web and you need the part number to make sure it's the right one, but many people actually state they'll be going to Vauxhall. If you want an activated carbon pollen filter from your Vx dealer, for example, you can just say "activated carbon filter for this reg number pls" rather than having to have the number.

I wish it was so easy mate, my local dealer did not know what a "signum fog surround" was when i inquired about them this afternoon, he then asked me the part number...

He then found the sri bumper grille i was looking for and when i said brilliant ill come tmr to buy one he then announced they dont have any in stock but i could order one which could take up to 10working days....

Polite enough but what a tool

I don't have this problem with (semi local) Knebworth, Herts parts dept.

I ring them asking them for parts. They say yes its in stock or it will take 3 days to come in. All I have to do is give them enough info on what I need and turn up to pay. Haven't let me down yet.

Mind you I tried other nearer VX parts depts and it was not going anywhere.

Spose it depends on who you use really.

EDIT : If they have no idea what im on about on the phone I pop over and they bring up all sorts of part diagrams on the computer to show me if thats what I need. Can't recommend them high enough.

Thats great of you to recommend them dude but where the hell is Knebworth lol... Im northern irish which in this lone instance is proving to be aggravating as i presume parts i wanted need to be shipped from the mainland and hence the "up to 10days waiting" although even then he must be having a laugh. May take a run up to the dealers tmr to see if he has any pretty diagrams for me
