Default Timing chain, how long does it last?

Can anyone tell me how long (on average) does a timing chain last?
My 2.2 dti is now on 83k, I have regular oil changes but I'm just curious. Is it something that should be changed as a precaution, or is there a recommended interval?

    Ta

The chain should last as long as the engine.

No recommended interval, IIRC. Basically if it doesn't rattle, then it doesn't need changing yet. When it does start rattling, you've still got some miles left to get it changed (unlike the 2.2 petrol which if it starts rattling, get it changed ASAP)

iv always changed them roughly around the 70 - 80k mark, like some said oil changes are key to longer life.
