Oil Leak 3.2 GSI

Hi All,

I have a 3.2 GSI on a 02 plate, whan i bought it i knew that the rocker cover gaskets needed replacing due to a minor oil leak, i have since done these cleaned off the engine and all looked good.

However she has just passed the MOT yesterday and i was informed that i still have a leak somewhere, i took a look and under the bonnet, below rocker covers i can see some oil on the side of the block, however nothing coming from the rocker covers, they are good. I have double checked the oil breather pipe and this is clear.

Anyone got any ideas where this may be comming from as its below the rocker covers but only just.

Could i be looking at blocked oil breather, which is pressurising the rocker cover gaskets causing oil to blow out !?

You really need to get in there and have a look. It could still be coming from the gaskets if they are not sealing correctly.

Oil pump seals went on mine when i had it, gasket doesnt cost much its the labour that blows your head off.

Hopefully its no that but if its on the side of the block i would look towards there.

There's more than just one oil breather pipe on the 3.2

It seems to be coming from the front right corner of the block just below the rocker covers, also i get a drip onto the manifold.

I had the intake manifold off recently to try and get to the thermostat, that a whole other story (whoever designed that needs shooting) While i had it off i found inside the intake has a thin coating of oil.

I have cleaned the breather pipe on the right of the engine (Large one that runs to the throttle body)

Where are the others located ?

It seems to be in between the rocker cover and manifold studs, worryingly when it drips onto the manifold, you get a little puff of smoke if you watch it closely .

I also notice that sometimes it seems a little down on power, unless you work the engine, then it goes fine, it's as if she is short of torque but only sometimes, when it demonstrates this if i let off the power then plant it she picks up and goes as expected.

Am i doomed ???
