Engine Re-Build.

Hi Lads wondering if you could help me out with the following.

I have a 2004 Vectra 1.6 xe z 16. (Not that common in the u.k I know)

The car seems to be burning oil. When you rev it up to about 3-4k there is alot of blue smoke. On inspecting the throttle body today I noticed a fair bit of oil in the intake.

I assuming the worst here and thinking the valve seals and rings are gone.

Can anyone tell me how big of a job would it be to replace them or should I just startng looking for a new engine.

Id be grateful for any advice as im up the walls over this.

Do a compression test and take the readings.

Then drop a bit of oil down the bores and do the test again.

If it goes up then the rings are gone.

Its not a 5 min job to do the rings, Its a complete strip down of the engine.

Can I just ask you this P.C.V valve would that cause the above symtoms?

As said mate to do rings is big job an would probably be more cost effective to replace engine

And fit a 2.0 turbo lump in it

I have heard that the valve can sometimes course oil burning how ever I'm insure how you would test
