    Default Best First Mods...

Hi guys, as some of you know i have just brought an '03 3.2 GSi.

I was wondering what would be the first few mods for her?? would de-restricting the Air box make much difference? (and how do i do it?)

I have heard of a remap available, is this worth doing on the 3.2? what difference would i notice?

    Thanks in advance

p.s the only thing i have managed so far is an alloy tax disc holder

De-restricting the air box. Deffo worth doing. Its like the effect of putting Optimax in (or Vpower - whatever its called now!) but without the extra cost. In fact its a free mod

I started with an Irmscher grill, and thought I would stop there.... I now have Irmscher spoiler, Irmscher door pins, Irmscher pedals and speedline 18" alloys... its addictive!

Hello, first of all, be sure to add your name here.

You could remove the griffin (rear VX badge), another free mod, just to make you car look a little different to others. Obviously its a personal choice.

I'd agree that the airbox mod is the easiest and cheapest, i myself have a K&N Cone Filter, mixed reactions about them on here, but i like it, and thats all that matters to me. As for a remap, that would increase you bhp, i think that the local one available to us is Regal Autosport i think the cost of the remap is £350 for the 3.2, but im not sure for definate, would be best to contact them for a personalised quote.

Im currently arranging a Rolling Road Day just to see what our cars are putting out, please add you name if your interested.

Welcome To The Site! If you need any help, just give me a shout, and i'll see what i can do.

    Neil

As for how to do the air box mod.
Dis connect the air hose going into the top of the air box (found it easier but apparently not essential).
Un screw the lid. When you are inside under the filter you will find what looks like a 1/2 pipe going into the bottom of the box. This is just cliped in place. A good firm pull will release it, and that's it!

You will notice that only the back 1/2 of the filter is dirty as the pipe directs airflow toward sthe back 1/2 only.

That's how I did it on my V6 CTDi Vec (thank's to Harry!) I assume its the same on yours, as I dont think the boxes are much different.

By the way, you dont need to remove the screws all the way. I did that the 1st time & dropped one into the engine bay. There is a tray under the engine on the V6 diesel and I ended up having to take that off to retrieve the screw. 10 min job turned into an hour job with plenty of bule air!!!!
