    Default temperature guage ?????????

hi, over the last couple of days i have noticed that the temperature guage is somewhat intermittent, sometimes it`s not working, turn off the engine and restart and it`s reading normal, i went out for a drive took ages to show anything and then it only went half way to where it should be.
is this a new thermostat or could it be electrical??

Could also be temp sensor. Not sure what electrical range you need for the sensor. Sure someone can help out on that.

Am not sure if the vec thermostat an housing are attached together or not. If there not take it out. Put in a pan of water on the hob an you should see it open about 85 degrees

I had to change the stat on mine, and I have the same model as you, as mine was all over the dial, now stays on 92 as it should.
The stat aint cheap for this model, but its an easy job, and a lot cheaper than the stealers! Only issue I had when I changed mine is the wiring bracket on the side of the housing is held on by a realy flimsy bolt, and I sheared mine off when I tightened it back up so be warned........cable ties are a wonderful thing...
