Smile Well nearly 100k of CDTI 150 Ownership

    100K of ownership
Just a wee dedication to my Vectra 1.9CDTI.
Well I've nearly done 100k in my Vectra 1.9CDTI 150. I bought her with 38.2k on the clock and the odometer is coming up to 136.5k now.

    Ownership
It has been a turbulent 4 years with the 1.9 as she has succumbed to - wrecked manifold, jamming EGR valve, injector loom issue, thermostat jammed open, throttle body fault.

All bar the thermostat have been sorted. She is much better than she ever has been. I found the only fault(s) which shut her down were the 3rd injector plug (£50 at the dealer to have remedied) and throttle body fault (fixed by soldering the broken solder joints in the TB and removing plate). My plans now are to get on with tuning now, been putting it off for ages.

Been up and down to England and she never missed a beat - even running poorly she returns 43mpg and that is with a happy right foot too. I have seen 58mph out of her with careful throttle use and a dodgy thermostat. Makes you wonder how much it could really give. Would be a good contender for that race Top Gear done to Blackpool.

The dreaded DMF or is it?
But what I am amazed about is the fact that the DMF has withstood 100k of abusive driving and the odd bad start on my part. It's rattling badly now and will be getting done, but I have learned they are amazingly strong in the Vectra/Signum.

Overall even with the repair bills I would have another, great engine and good performance with great mpg. Reliability could be better but then Vauxhall seem to have sorted that with the later units so if I got another it would be one of them.

Superb! Got mine with 26k, about to turn 90k and yes, it has had niggles but I love mine.

Nice to see one with a high mileage doing so well.

With regards to the dmf... i have just changed mine as it had been rattling/knocking for over 25k.
What a difference it has made, some people when in my car couldn't even notice the dmf was faulty, well the car is now totally transformed, even fires up quicker, it's so smooth, pulls better & it's quieter.
I saw the old parts & it had welded itself together causing all the vibration through the gearbox... thankfully the F40 is a strong box.

    Cheers m8,

Start the engine correctly (clutch pressed fully during starting) and use the correct gears and you'll be fine bud I'm sure.

So what were saying is, the reliability is not up to scratch for a modern car, and that if you didnt know better, or couldnt do the work yourself, its going to cost a small fortune to keep running with new manifolds and dmfs and egr's etc. But, regardless of its faults, you feel the economy and power delivery are worth all the hastle and that a little bit like an alfa romeo, on the odd occasion they arnt broke, it brings a smile to your face...
