Default Anyone know about digital cameras?

Been looking at getting a bridge digital camera and the specs just go right over my head. Which of these two would you favour as an all rounder?

Google the "digital camera database", don't have the link handy, and look at the sample pics and review for each camera, then decide.

Never been sure about bridge Digitals tbh. Was going to get a Fuji a few years ago but just saved a bit more and bought a Nikon D70 DSLR instead. In my mind its ether a compact or a DSLR, the middle ground is neither here nor there. Bulky but not giving any of the benefits of a Compact.

My wife wants a Nikon, but due to a shoulder injury, finds them too heavy at present. We're both using old Pansonics (FX5/FX10) with good results.
I found a lot of the reviews and shop information biased, so went with digi database and waded through the sample pics to see what the ones I was interested in could do.

If it was me I would go for a DSLR. I do use them myself and the results can be stunning. I have both Full frame and Cropped sensor types. (hope I haven,t confused you there though).

I've got an HS-10 sitting here that I bought and used before I upgraded to the Nikon D90. The Fuji is a very capable camera indeed and the up to 720x zoom on the fixed lense is incredible.

I found it lacking slightly in detail for close up portraits which is what I started using it for a lot, but did get some fantastic results from it and keep it as a back up for my Nikon or incase I need a camera somewhere where it might get damaged and I don't want to risk my Nikon.

If you fancy the trip up this way, you're welcome to play with both the Fuji and the Nikon and that may help you decide for yourself

This was taken with the HS10 if that helps
