Lightbulb Failed MOT today, just one item

Its been a while since I've posted here, been too busy

Its a 1.9 CDTi 150 Auto 07 plate, failed MOT today due to: nearside rear shock absorber has serious fluid leak

I need help on which shock absorbers to buy? found some on ebay, could someone tell me which one to buy? It should be easy to do?

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VECTRA-C-ESTAT...item4cedea5117

    or
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VECTRA-C-GTS-1...item3efc3b1991

    or
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/REAR-OIL-SHOCK...item563fe1948e

    or
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VECTRA-C-GTS-1...item414c9246de

Are the gas absorbers any good or shall I go with oil absorbers? And just replace the faulty one or both(rear)?

    Hi
    My first post on here

I work in a MOT station myself and i would always advise replacing both shocks and not just the one same goes for spings aswell

hope this helps and personaly i would go for the gas shocks rather than the oil one's but thats just me.

An 1.9 CDTi 150 Auto 07 plate what? saloon, hatch, estate? Not sure if it makes a difference, but it might. Have you asked the dealers? Or tried autovaux or similar?

Go to your nearest Euro Car Parts branch and buy a pair of Bilstein B4 shock absorbers.

    Cheers guys,

    Its a hatchback 07 plate 1.9 150 CDTi Automatic.

I remember had to replace that tyre earlier this year as it was making a lot of noise when driving. So probably the absorber did make all the trouble with the tyre!

Many thanks for your post and welcome, do you mean replace the springs as well? or just both absorbers?

hes talking in general replace both items if only one is faulty, same for the springs if one is shot, then replace both...

Bilstein B4s cost about £35 each and take about 15 mins each to replace. You just need an E18 and E22 torx? (not 100% on the sizes, I bought a 7 part rail from Halfords for £12)

Euro Car Parts dont stock Bilstein anymore, called them and they recommended Sachs which cost £51.54 ech.
