ignition take to fire up the engine on a vectra diesel, mines a 1.9cdti sri 150 but general diesel question, post your variant if you would like to
i do not mean the turning of the key
reason i ask is i changed my glow plugs and its still taking 2 but mainly 3 times before it kicks in, is this right? i know petrols are much quicker but thoughts appreciated
also being warmer will it affect it in general as the glow plug is not used as much???? noob i know before anyone pipes up lol

I use to start mine when glow plug symble goes out and it was starting after engine turned over 2 or 3 times.... I found if I waited another 2 seconds it fires instantly..... I think its due to the fuel pressure from pump needs more time to build pressure.... give it a try ....like to know if its same with yours?

The glow plugs wont be in use in this temperature. I put the key in, don't even wait for the glow plug light and crank it straight of and it fires almost straight away, the engine may turn over once but its pretty instant for me. Its a Fiat by the way but the same engine as the 120 Vecs. What has transformed it is the battery, I put a higher spec one in than was fitted at the factory and even in the winter it now fires brilliantly.

Mine always fires up within 2 or 3 turns. Always first time. Even on a freezing morning without using the glowplugs
