Default Rough idle after timing belt change

Hi - wondered if I could get a point in the right direction with this.

I changed my timing belt yesterday (Z18XE) and all went well, turned the engine over twice after adjusting the tensioner and then twice again just to be sure before I put the covers back on, and all the marks were still in the right place so I'm happy that the valve timing is OK.

But today when I start it, the idle is a bit 'chuggy' and it feels like it's running on 3. It's like a regular miss, not random.

It revs OK and I just took it round the block and performance felt OK too.

It's showing a fault through the 'pedal test' - 0110 - which I think happened because I ran it with the air flow meter disconnected as a test (which didn't make any difference).

I've checked the connections that I can see and it looks fine, what else can I check?

    Cheers!

Update - I left the battery off for 1/2 hour and it's still showing the same 0110 code now, is that consistent with the ropey idle?

Sounds like it might be. Do a search of '0110' on here and read through the threads it turns up like this one.

i had my timing belt done on my Z18XE last year & noticed a little 'chug' every now & then when idling (didn't do it before), but otherwise it's been absolutely fine. The guy who did my belt said that each cam was a tooth out. both the mechanic & the service manager said how quiet it was when idling.

Duh - well it turns out it was my own fault. After running out of ideas I stripped it all down again and found the exhaust cam out (retarded) by one tooth.

    idling lovely now!

I can't really understand why that would cause a regular miss at low revs yet run well at higher revs...but then again I don't really care.
