    Default Drive & Rattle

    Hi guys,

    I have a 2.0T SRi (05) and i have been reading alot of post about how smooth the car is and how good the drive is so i have a couple of questions;

    I have noticed that if i'm in say 4th gear doing 30mph and stick my foot down there is like a jurking before the power kicks in, it tends to happen if i'm going slow in a high gear also at his point there is a rattle which seems to be exhaust related, now i have stepped down from a e90 BMW 320d so this may explain why i'm noticing these things because this is my first Vectra and at the moment i'm comparing it to my last car.

    I'm getting a loud rattle from the exhaust, but only on cold starts, it doesn't sound like the exhaust is leaking because when you stand next to the tail pipes you can hear the noise even more any idea?

    Any help would be good guys. Thanks in advance.

    I have spoke to a guy from my local garage and he reckons the rattle noise is something to do with tappets not getting enough oil on start up? Has anyone had this problem before and no how much it would cost to fix?

    Being a petrol engine your turbo kicks in at higher revs. I would not expect much from planting my foot while doing 30 in 4th.

    The loose exhaust type sound I would say is more than likely a loose heatshield but indicate a failing dmf.

    The judder can be failing coils, I had it on mine. Have you checked the condition of the spark plugs recently?

    The rattle could be from a loose flexi piece on the exhaust. If so, the solution is to wrap a large jubilee clip around its middle, like a belt, as shown in the photo below:

    I'm sure it's not a heatshield because the noise goes away after a short period of time, would have been more helpful if i put that in the first post sorry.

    I haven't only got it about a month ago and it's been back at the dealers for two weeks of them, had an issue with the front discs.

    It has part history and the garage reckon they just serviced it, but after reading a few more post on here i'm begining to wonder if it has had the wrong grade oil if any by the garage.
