I tow a caravan, cabby 620 with wight 1700 kg. Car is a 2007 estate with auto self level shocks rear. My car is a cdti 120 with remap and 400 nm. Its no problem. I could tow 2000 kg and a fully loaded car.

A remap will pull better, but you must drive more carefull to not blow the engine. Try tow a trip and see. I think you will be impressed about the 320 nm that you have now.

If you choose a remap that dont boost so high its ok. But if you go for a High Output remap you must drive carefully, so you dont blow your engine and dmf/cluch and watching the engine temp all the time.

I tow a 2005 Swift Blakemere L GT which fully laden is around 1480kg and then all the gear in the boot and 3 adults and dog. I have a EDS Remap and it pulls the van with power to spare as I can accelerate up steep hills like Rhault Hill in North Wales. I also have a auto box which seems to like towing to but I have had issues with the rear suspension as the car was squat down a bit to far with the van on the back and I sometimes bottomed out onto the Towbar Bracket. I cured this by throwing the OE SRI rear springs in the bin and having after market SRI springs fitted which has cured that problem big time.
I am now thinking about selling my Vectra as I want a bigger boot and something with more weight as to be future proof for newer Caravans so looking at Kia Sorento, Kia Sedona and Hyundai Santa Fe but nothing confirmed yet as I still love my Vectra to bits and have spent a fortune on it with Remaps, Stainless Exhaust and Irmscher spoilers etc.
Back to the main question, a Remap will really transform your car for towing as it makes such a difference when pulling away from standstill, hills and general cruising but do go for a decent Remap from a reconised company. As I have already said I run a EDS Remap from MPG and its the same one that you can get from Regal and it also looks after the dreaded DPF by making a regen every 1000 miles so its always clean and you also have the option to write out the EGR valve to.
