Vectra 2.0 dti noisy engine under load

The problem I have with my car is it starts fine and ticks over fine but if i start to rev it up slowly it will be ok so far but then it will change tone and sound more rattly,from in the car sounds a bit as if its blowing somewhere but just sounds rattly from outside.
cant seem to notice this all the time while reving the car standing still but notice under load when driving the car.
Any help much appreciated.

exactly the same happened to me today,
Anything above 2750 revs whilst driving and you can here a raspy/ sucking sound. Had the breakdown people out who say its sucking in air somewhere but no obvious signs of where though.

Could well be the timing chain wearing.. Had something similar on one of mine... if you really booted it it would get rattly, but if you drove it normally it would be fine....

did you get it sorted , mines is the same but also noisey on take over someone suggested i try different oil

no didnt bother in the end.. you could try new oil and see if it improves it, best bet is to get a trained mechanic to cast an ear on it and see what he reckons..

Try replacing the fuel filter and cleaning the filter housing. This was the problem on my mum's Signum. Terrible rattling noise under load...

any success with this? mine is exactly the same. over 1500 with any kind of load it will rattle/knock like a beast but goes and pulls well, has done this for a few months now, sounds pretty nasty

Might sound daft, but try 200ml of 2-stroke oil in your diesel. If the noise noticably improves, it's just injector noise and nothing to worry about.

When was the fuel filter last drained of water?

no idea! would that make a difference like that? car runs superbly, no smoke, pulls well just sounds horrendous at over 1500rpm under any kind of load
