Default 2006 1.9cdti Cold Starting Problems

    Hi,
It seems to be a pretty common fault, but my 2006 Vectra 1.9cdti (120) doesn't like starting when cold.
So far we (or rather my tame mechanic) have tried the following:

    -New glow plugs
-Vacuum hoses checked and splits replaced
-EGR valve removed and cleaned and checked
-Spill off pipes checked and replaced (rubber was hard)

But still we have the problem. If I wait for the fuel pump to stop whirring at the back it starts OK, suggesting that the fuel is being allowed to drain back to the tank while it is sitting. Are we right in thinking that the only place left to check is the injector seals, or is there something else we're missing?

Other than this the car drives like a dream, so its really frustrating.

    Can anyone help???

    Hi
My 2005 Vectra 1.9cdti has exactly the same problem, glow plugs tested OK, pipes checked, egr valve has been blanked off. OK if ignition on for 15-20 seconds prior to starting.

Didn't the cdti have a problem with batteries? Try hooking up to a running car with jump leads for a few mins then try yours? I know this cured my mates 120 Starting problems. Once he replaced the battery everything was fine

Have you checked the fuel filter housing for any hair line cracks

Sounds like air getting in the system somewhere - fuel filter housing or connections to it are usual subject - have you tried priming the fuel system before trying to start it from cold - by that I mean pressuring the system by turning the ignition on 2/3 times before actually turning the engine over
