Default egr blanking with 10mm hole

have had a restricting gasket with a 10mm hole preceding the egr for approx 18 months now. thought i would check it the other day, egr was not too bad but the entrance to the throttle body was quite sooted up. I place the blanking gasket in place straight after having a new egr and inlet manifold.

didnt bother cleaning out the throttle body, didnt have the right torx bits!

whats the smallest hole people have tried without getting eml? how difficult is it to get rid of the egr all together? would that have to be via a remap? if so what cost are we talking, is it worth it?

There is no point fitting a blanking gasket with a hole, it will still gunk the manifold up the same. Its either leave alone, or fully blank it for me.

Blanking gakset is about £4 off ebay, and it will be fine (but will have emissions light on) - about £100 for it to be mapped out of the ECU.

    hi guys

just new to this site and stumbled upon this conversation, i had a nissan navara which i just got rid of for my vectra 1.9cdti 120 and i had blocked the EGR valve off all together with a 1mm stainless steel plate i got from work (no hole) and i had no problems. i got better performance after some deisel addative to clean the engine out and it increased MPG. i am going to make a blanking plate for the vectra at work this week as it is definatly worth it in the long run.
