If they have the mot certificate number it can be checked online. It will show any failure and advisories that were recorded at the mot.

If you are trading it in, then it will depend on the agent and how much investigating they do
They will accept that some wear and tear is consumerate with the age of the vehicle, and as above they can check the MoT history, but normally this is only done with the Certificate which you supply on the day of disposal of the vehicle
Normally the agent will give the car a very quick overall look and check
They may notice the wheel joint and price the car accordingly, they may not
Remember the rules of disclosure, only answer the question if asked, otherwise sold as seen

As for the Tax Disc, that is YOUR property and nothing to do with the car, unless specified in the agents agreement (and normally it is not)
I have never traded in a car with the Tax Disc, I always remove it as soon as I arrive on their premises, and then send it away for reclaim
However, for a private sale it normally forms part of the sales agreement so that the new owner can drive it away immediately

I had a car that had the clutch and DMF gone. I took it to a garage and got a new clutch in it and left the flywheel as it was stupid money. Then straight from there, drove to the nearest showroom and part ex'd it there and then for my first Vectra. They did not check anything except the paint work.

Basically that is what they will do, depending on age
The cars I trade in are typically 5 or 6 years old with at least 100K miles
Therefore so long as the car turns over, sounds OK, and has good paintwork, then it is off to auction with it
The only exception was my previous Mondeo, as discussed before Ford wanted the engine for investigation purposes, so had to pay out based on book value
