The popular choice seems to be the K&N panel filter. Straight swap - old out, new in.... no adjustments or adaptors. People go on about things sounding better, but that will be down to the individual listening. One definite is typically the K&N is around £40 and needs no attention until around 40,000miles when it's a clean and re-oil - financially that has to be a winner.

I went with the pipercross filter and the airbox mod. Anything that helps your engine to breath better cant be bad.

I have the courtaney motor sport high flow filter which is a re branded pipercross one (the spray I was sent is pipercross also).

With just a filter I doubt there are massive gains to be had, try the air box mod also and that will then help more.

K&N and Green are cotton type filters that require oiling every so often, pipercross are foam filters which have a light spray in place of the oil. I have used all on various cars but prefer the pipercross as the spray is finer than the oil with the K&N ones, and I have heard stories over the years of people over oiling the K&N filters leading to issues with MAF sensors etc etc. I never experienced this personally when I had my K&N in my Furby VRS.

K&N is slighty more expensive than pipercross but worth it, also whilst your in your airbox do the 'mod'

I have tried loads, they all seem to do the same - very little on a standard car.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
