Red face Exlusiv Lowered 35mm, recomend me some new shocks please...

My Exclusiv 150 looks and drives well on lowering springs, they are 35mm, so a little lower than an SRi but a lot more harsh on bad bumps. I have to slow down hugely to avoid it seeming like the front wheels are coming through the dashboard when I see a large pothole or speed bump. I don't mind too much, it is just sometimes if there is a small dip before a lump in the road the bang is quite severe and I cannot see every problem on the road.

Would different shock absorbers help, are the shocks in an Exlcusiv different to an SRi, I don't want to raise the height of the car just have it handle the bumps a little better?

Trouble is with lowering springs is because they are lower, they need to be much stiffer to stop the car bottoming out at the sight of a bump. Because they are much stiffer they don't absorb the bumps, they just transfer the bump through the car.

I wouldn't have thought that shockers would help much, as they would just help with the car "bobbing" after a bump.

Maybe Chris, hopefully someone can provide advice based on experience from all the users here but it might be as you said and I can't do anything to improve it. I have noticed that when I put the roof bars on I cannot move the car when pulling on them, before the lowering springs the car wobbled with little effort applied to the roof bars, so maybe the stiffness is just too much.

Blistein B4 or B6's seem to be most popular, personally going for B6's myself, as I'm in the same situation as you. I take it exclusive shocks are different to SRI ones, I'm sure someone who has actually changed over will be able to give you better advice soon enough.

If I'm right exclusive shocks are exactly the same as the b4 bilstiens. I'm on 45 mm springs on b4's and I get the bang your on about it's the shocks bottoming out I think. To stop this I would assume you would need to change to either b6's or some Sri shocks. I've got used to the occasional bang lol so will just wait till I've blown my b4's to bits before I change to b6's as the price difference in my eyes is stupid.

Looked at price of B6 shockers, quite expensive, about £300 then there is fitting.

Think I got the price wrong, the prices are per spring so I guess all four adds up to about £600, wow, too much, not paying that. Was hoping for a couple of hundred pounds for replacement speakers.

Have the bump stops been removed when the springs were replaced?
Lois Griffin: Peter! You're bribing your daughter with a car?
Peter Griffin: Ah, c'mon, Lois, isn't 'bribe' just another word for 'love'?

Don't know, had the springs changed by a local garage who seem very good and have been at it years.
